Yallo Review 2026: Switzerland's Best Network Does Not Come From the Priciest Provider

Most people in Switzerland pay about twice what they need to for their mobile plan. Not because they negotiate badly, but because they assume good coverage automatically costs a lot.

That has not been true for a few years now.

Yallo runs on the Sunrise network. That is the exact infrastructure that has been rated "outstanding" by connect ten times in a row, as the only Swiss network to achieve this. The difference to a premium provider is not the antenna. It is the bill.

What that means concretely (as of 20 July 2026):

• Unlimited calls, texts and data in Switzerland: CHF 20.90 per month. On 5G, up to 2 Gbit/s.
• The same plus unlimited data in Europe, the USA, Canada and Turkey: CHF 27.90.
• Internet up to 10 Gbit/s: CHF 34.90. Router included, activation free.
• Internet plus TV with over 300 channels: CHF 38.90.

And the part that surprises most people: the discount stays. It is not a teaser rate that jumps to the list price after twelve months. Yallo calls it "discount forever", and that is exactly how it is meant.

What you should know before signing is in its own section further down. No small print, no asterisks.

We recommend Yallo because we would recommend it to our own tenants. That is also why we spell out further down who it is not worth it for.

Let us start with what actually matters day to day. A cheap plan is worthless if nothing works on the train between Aarau and Zurich.

Yallo uses the Sunrise network. Not a stripped-down secondary network, not throttled, not deprioritised. The same antennas, the same coverage.

And this network holds a distinction nobody else in Switzerland can claim: the trade magazine connect awards top marks annually, and Sunrise is the only Swiss network to have received the top rating "outstanding" ten times in a row. In the connect broadband test 2025 the same top rating was added for the fourth consecutive time.

Two technical points that will matter in the coming years:

• Sunrise operates the largest 5G network in Switzerland.
• Sunrise is the only provider running a nationwide 5G standalone network. That is the build stage where 5G no longer piggybacks on the old 4G core but works independently. You notice it in response times, so everywhere that depends on speed rather than data volume.

All Yallo mobile plans run on 5G. There is no budget version that drops you back to 4G.

Newcomers to Switzerland are often told they should stay with a large provider or they will have no coverage. That advice is ten years old and simply wrong today.

Yallo has deliberately kept the mobile line-up narrow. Two plans cover what the vast majority of people need.

Swiss: CHF 20.90 per month

• Unlimited data in Switzerland, up to 2 Gbit/s on 5G
• Unlimited calls and texts nationwide
• No roaming included

For everyone whose life happens in Switzerland. Commuting, home office, streaming on the train, hotspot for the laptop. There is no data cap to hit and no throttling after X gigabytes.

Europe: CHF 27.90 per month

• Everything in Swiss, plus
• Unlimited data in the Europe zone, the USA, Canada and Turkey
• 60 minutes of calls to those countries

Seven francs more per month. In exchange, the question of what a week of holiday or a family visit abroad costs in roaming simply disappears. Anyone who moved to Switzerland from Germany, Italy, Portugal, Turkey or the USA and regularly calls home or needs data there recovers the difference on a single trip.

What both include

• eSIM. All plans work without a plastic card. You can be online the day you order.
• Keep your number. Your existing number moves with you, and Yallo handles the cancellation with your old provider.
• 5G everywhere. No tiering of network generations by price.

In short: if you only travel within Switzerland, take Swiss. As soon as you cross the border more than twice a year, Europe almost always pays off.

This is where it gets interesting for anyone moving into their own apartment.

Home Max Fiber: CHF 34.90 per month

• Unlimited data
• Internet router included
• Activation free

10 Gbit/s is not a figure you max out daily. It is the figure that keeps things smooth when a four-person flatshare streams, games and video-calls at the same time. That is exactly where cheap connections break down.

Home Max Fiber + TV: CHF 38.90 per month

• Everything in Home Max Fiber, plus
• Over 300 channels, more than 70 of them in Full HD
• 7-day replay, so you can watch what you missed
• 1000 recordings
• TV app, streaming on 5 devices simultaneously

Four francs more for a full TV package. The replay part is the underrated one: if you moved here from abroad, you get the Swiss channels but also channels from home, and you can watch them time-shifted when the time zone does not cooperate.

An honest note on your living situation: if you live in a furnished room where WLAN is included in the rent, you do not need this. With us WLAN is included and you pay nothing extra. Home Max Fiber becomes relevant once you move into your own apartment.

Roaming is the line item where the most money is traditionally burned in Switzerland. A long weekend in Milan, phone in your pocket, and suddenly there are three-digit amounts on the bill.

The Europe plan solves this differently from the usual roaming packages: not with a data bundle you have to book in advance and keep an eye on, but with unlimited data.

Covered are:

• the Europe zone
• the USA
• Canada
• Turkey

Plus 60 minutes of calls to exactly those countries.

That is essentially the map that matches our tenants. Anyone arriving from Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal or Turkey keeps calling and messaging home. Anyone working for a US company has calls across the Atlantic.

The practical check you can run yourself: look at your last bill and see what you paid for roaming and add-on packages over the past twelve months. If the total is above CHF 84, the surcharge for Europe has already paid for itself. For most people who travel two or three times a year, it is well above that.

We could leave this section out. Most sites recommending plans do. We think you should know beforehand rather than afterwards.

Contract term: 24 months

The discounted prices come with a 24-month commitment. That is the trade: you get the discount permanently rather than for twelve months, and in exchange you commit for two years.

Who this suits: anyone staying in Switzerland for the foreseeable future. Moving with family, permanent employment, your own apartment.

Who it does not suit: anyone here for an internship, an exchange semester or a fixed-term project who will be gone in six or twelve months. In that case a monthly-cancellable plan or prepaid is the sensible choice, even at a higher monthly price. We would rather tell you now than have you pay two years for a plan you no longer need.

Activation fee: CHF 59.00 on mobile plans

One-off, on signing. On the Home Max Fiber and Home Max Fiber + TV internet plans it is currently waived entirely.

Price adjustment as of 1 August 2026

Yallo is adjusting the base fees of its mobile plans as of 1 August 2026. Depending on the plan the adjustment is between CHF 0.50 and CHF 2.00, and for most plans it is CHF 1.00. It applies to new and existing customers. Prepaid offers are excluded.

Important: the adjustment applies to the list price, existing discounts remain unchanged.

Yallo suits you very well if you

• will be staying in Switzerland for more than two years
• want unlimited data without thinking about consumption
• regularly travel to or call Europe, the USA, Canada or Turkey
• are moving into your own apartment and want internet plus TV from one provider
• care about network quality but are not willing to pay the premium surcharge for it

Yallo is probably not for you if you

• are here only for a semester, an internship or a fixed-term project
• do not yet know whether you will still be in Switzerland in a year
• have very small data needs and get by on prepaid for a few francs

That is not a brake on sales, it is the reason we recommend anything at all. Someone who realises after three months that they signed the wrong contract does not come back and does not ask us anything either.

Switching takes less than ten minutes. You do not have to cancel with your old provider yourself.

1. Choose your plan

Swiss or Europe for mobile, Home Max Fiber with or without TV for your home. For internet, run the availability check with your address first.

2. Order online

You need an ID document (passport or ID card), your Swiss address and a payment method. Without registering at your municipality this generally does not work, because a Swiss address is required. How to register is covered in our registration guide.

3. Keep your number

You enter your existing number during the order process. Yallo handles the cancellation with your old provider and the porting.

4. Activate the eSIM or insert the SIM

With eSIM you are online the same day. Otherwise the card arrives by post.

5. Check after a few days

Check on your first bill that the plan, discount and term match what you ordered. It takes two minutes and saves you arguments later.

What is included in our price: furnishing, service charges, WLAN, shared use of kitchen, bathroom and laundry room.
